Chapter 7, Parents and Their School-Age Children is a time when parents must be understanding and promote social relationships, physical development, and self-esteem. Children model their parents’ behavior, and parents are the greatest teachers that their children will ever have. Parent should be actively involved in their children’s’ lives. Talking to their children and find out what is important to them, and what is going on in their lives is very important. Parents should plan out activities that they do as a family, and stay active.
I chose this chapter because this is where my children are now. I love every phase in my children’s lives. I remember as my children would grow and learn something new, I would think, “aww, my baby is growing up, and I’m going to miss this”. But because I love each stage as much as the last one, I don’t really mind so much that we are moving forward. In fact, I am thankful. I choose internet sites that would benefit all parents. I have included growth and development, bullying, and childhood obesity. I believe that all three of these topics are important for parents to understand and hope that these links help to better educate parents.
